Weekend, briefly

19 Jan

Long holiday weekends are truly a gift.

One nice sunset, followed by freezing fog warnings for two days. Indiana – the shitty winter playground!

Saturday called for a trip to the big city to visit this little lady, her parents and some other old friends. Shopping was also required. After a completely unsuccessful trip to Home Goods and J.Crew (this CANNOT be possible), I was consoled by large amounts of pomme frites and Belgian beer at dinner.

Sunday and Monday were lazy days, spent cleaning up the house and preparing piles to be donated to Goodwill. We also went to Sam’s Club. I can’t imagine how jealous you must all be. True suburban bliss.

P.S. We’re lame. Whatever.

Sounds like a nice weekend to me. I can’t take all of that excitement at my age. How old are you? Your mother & I only went shoeshoeing, hiking, to the iceboat regatta and the snowmobile drag races this weekend (and, of course, to the dump). Now that’s a lame weekend!

You mean you didn’t want that big lifesize wood stick elephant that’s been sitting in HomeGoods for 3 weeks now? Surprised I didn’t run into you in my playground. 🙂

As much as our living room is screaming out for a lifesize elephant, Steve would not let me buy it. 🙂

His terrible budgets also precluded me from buying new lamps, which was really the reason the trip was a bummer. I was able to squeeze some new sheets out of him – my favorite place to score cheap linens!
